Nathan Farnsworth Obituary, Lapeer MI, A Cherished Soul Has Passed Away

Nathan Farnsworth Obituary, Death – Nathan Martin Farnsworth, 22, of North Branch, died on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born in Flint on January 13, 2001, to LeRoy “Marty” and Natalie (Slocum) Farnsworth. Nate graduated from North Branch High School in 2019 after excelling academically and athletically. He was a “triple threat” who could play football, basketball, and baseball. Nathan was a dedicated Christian who belonged to the North Branch Wesleyan Church.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Wayne State University in May 2023, summa cum laude. Nate was a member of various predental clubs and played club volleyball at Wayne State.  Nathan was accepted to the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School after deciding to pursue a career in dentistry. He wanted to be a pediatric dentist, orthodontist, or oral surgeon when he grew up. Nate’s diagnosis of Stage 4 Sarcoma last year prevented him from starting dental school this autumn. Everyone adored Nathan because he was always cheerful and never complained!

He’ll be sorely missed! Nate’s family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and encouragement on his journey. They wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the North Branch and Wayne State communities for their support over the last year. Nathan is survived by his parents, Marty and Natalie Farnsworth of North Branch; siblings, Jacob Farnsworth of North Branch, Hannah Farnsworth of North Branch, and Aaron Farnsworth of North Branch; grandparents, Debra and Earl Slocum of Lapeer; love of his life, Emily Carroll of Flint; aunts and uncles, Christine (Gene) Winnie of Lapeer, Janie (Michael) Steele of Haymarket, Virginia, and Sarah (Da He was predeceased by his grandparents, LeRoy and Charlotte Farnsworth; great-grandparents, Mae and Bill Schlaud; and uncle, Earl Ray and Viola Slocum.

Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer will be open from 1-4 and 6-8PM on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Nate’s funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. The funeral will be held shortly after the burial in Oregon Twp. Cemetery. The family will also greet visitors at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, prior to the service.
